15 new ASCs in March

1. Richmond-based VCU Health filed plans to build a medical office building that includes an ASC. The outpatient component of the building is expected to cost $33.4 million. 

2. Newport Beach, Calif.-based TriasMD is opening a DISC Surgery Center in California. The 12,000-square-foot facility will expand access to outpatient spine surgery, orthopedics and pain management.

3. Mobile, Ala.-based Infirmary Health Center broke ground on an ASC and medical office building in Malbis, Ala. The two-story facility will span 94,000 square feet. On top of an ASC, it will house an imaging center, linear accelerator, women’s imaging and physician offices.

4. Canton, Ill.-based Graham Health System earned approval from the state review board to build an ASC in Galesburg, Ill.

5. Baptist Health System opened a new surgery center in Madison, Miss.

6. A new surgery center in Ames, Iowa, earned a three-year accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, allowing the facility to begin scheduling patients. 

7. O’Fallon, Ill.-based HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital earned state approval to construct an outpatient surgical center and medical office building. 

8. San Diego-based Scripps Health will build a “comprehensive” ambulatory facility in San Marcos, Calif., as the first phase of a long-awaited expansion project. 

9. An $84 million medical project, including a new ASC being constructed by ThedaCare in Oshkosh, Wis., is set to open at the end of the year.

10. A groundbreaking for a medical office building and surgical center in Chillicothe, Ohio, is expected to take place in July. The Chillicothe Medical and Surgical Center will total 75,000 square feet. It will be located near Adena Regional Medical Center.

11. Compass Surgical Partners joined with the Orthopaedic Institute of North Texas and Lam Vascular & Associates to operate a new ASC in Frisco, Texas. 

12. Swedish real estate developer Skanska signed a contract with Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health to convert a 60,000-square-foot office building into an ASC and specialty clinic space. 

13. West Orange, N.J.-based RWJBarnabas’ Ambulatory Medical Pavilion will open to patients April 1. 

14. Salisbury, Md.-based Tidal Health is moving forward with a plan to construct a medical campus in Millsboro, Del.

15. UCSF Health opened a $60 million, four-story outpatient center in Burlingame, Calif.
