5 surgeons in the headlines 

Here are five surgeons in recent headlines, as reported by Becker’s:

1. Jeffrey Clark, MD, is the first and only surgeon in Iowa to use Stryker’s Mako 4 robot for a procedure. The surgery was performed at Charles City, Iowa-based Floyd County Medical Center. 

2. John-Kevin Dolce, MD, former captain of UVA’s football team, will return to the Charlottesville, Va.-based university to complete his orthopedic residency in July.

3. Dain Allred, MD, performed surgery on Javain Brown, a defender for Real Salt Lake. 

4. Patrick Peavy, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Birmingham-based OrthoAlabama Spine & Sports, performed the first Oxford Cementless Partial Knee replacement surgery in Alabama.

5. Gary Michelson, MD, a retired spine surgeon, was one of several healthcare leaders to be included on Forbes’ annual World Billionaires list, released April 1. He was ranked 1,947 of all 3,028 billionaires on the list. His net worth remained the same as in 2024 at $1.8 billion.
