In 2019, a landmark CMS ruling opened the door for ASCs to receive Medicare reimbursement for certain angioplasty and stenting procedures.
Since then, the number of cardiology procedures occurring in the outpatient setting has continued to grow.
A recent study even found that ASCs’ outpatient heart procedure outcomes may rival those of hospitals.
As more and more cardiology procedures migrate to the outpatient setting, major health systems have taken notice, opening more cardiology-focused ASCs in 2025. Here are six new facilities that have opened, or been planned, so far this year:
1. Amavita Heart and Vascular Health opened a multimillion-dollar cardiovascular ASC in Miami. The new center is the first dedicated cardiovascular ASC in the region.
2. Cardiology Consultants of Philadelphia partnered with Philadelphia-based Penn Medicine and other undisclosed parties to open a $10 million cardiology ASC in King of Prussia, Pa. The 13,100-square-foot facility will house three operating rooms, one procedure room and 12 patient bays.
3. Tri-City Cardiology, a Mesa, Ariz.-based cardiologist group, will open a location within a new medical office complex in San Tan Valley, Ariz., featuring an ASC, pharmacy and rehabilitation center.
4. Endeavor Health opened a cardiovascular center at its Edward Hospital campus in Naperville, Ill., the first in the Chicago area to operate a cardiac outpatient surgery center.
5. New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health will open a new cardiac catheterization lab at Lenox Health Greenwich Village, an ASC and satellite emergency department in New York City.
6. APEX Vascular Outpatient Center opened the only specialized vascular ASC in the state in Lenoir City, Tenn.
