Hearing on potential Crozer Health sale postponed

On April 1, Los Angeles-based Prospect Medical Holdings was scheduled to present a proposed purchase agreement for a consortium to acquire Upland, Pa.-based Crozer Health — but the meeting was rescheduled, Daily Times reported April 1.

Prospect asked U.S. Bankruptcy Court Chief Justice Stacey Jernigan to move the hearing to 3:30 p.m. local time on April 3. According to the report, William Curtin, an attorney for Prospect, told the judge that “the parties have continued both conversations and extensive meetings since we were last before you.”

“While no resolution has been reached, we continue to work around the clock to get a solution,” he continued. “I’ve been in close multi-times a day contact with both the office of the Attorney General for the Commonwealth and the counsel of Delaware County.”

He said that the reason for requesting the postponement was due to sensitivities of public disclosure of the current process.

Two hours after the postponement, officials in Delaware County, Pa., sent an alert through its Delco Alert system inviting residents to an event called “Navigating Our Health System,” according to the report. The event is described as an “educational event on healthcare changes.”

“All are welcome,” the alert read. “As the looming conversations of the possible closure of the Crozer Healthcare System continue, hear from healthcare partners on what you can do. Healthcare advocates and representatives will talk about accessing the proper information for your services. Representatives will discuss the options provided in their organizations to support you.”
