3 physician practice closures in 1 week

Becker’s has reported on three physician practice closures in the last week.

Here are the three physician practice closures:

1. Providence, R.I.-based Anchor Medical Associates will close all three of its offices by June 30. AMS will first close its Warwick (R.I.) Pediatric/Adult Medicine office, effective April 30. The other two office closures will follow by June 30.

2. Jacksonville (Fla.) Orthopaedic Institute is set to lay off more than 300 employees and close six clinics following its recent buyout by Baptist Health. A group of JOI physicians has signed an agreement to repurchase stock that JOI originally sold to Jacksonville-based Baptist Health in 2011. As part of this transition back to independent operation, JOI is undergoing a major restructuring effort, which includes the closure of clinics and staff layoffs.

3. Tallahassee Primary Care Associates is closing after nearly 30 years on April 25. In January, the practice announced that select physicians would be departing, and that other departures and service line closures would also potentially take place. In an open letter to patients, TPCA included a list of the practice’s physicians and how to reach their respective new practices.
