Registered nurses working in the federal executive branch earn more annually, on average, than their counterparts working in other care settings, according to May 2024 data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, published April 2.
The bureau released updated compensation data to reflect May 2024 information, the latest available.
Here are the five highest-paid industries for RNs, and their annual average compensation:
1. Federal executive branch: $124,460
2. Medical equipment and supplies manufacturing: $116,040
3. Navigational, measuring, electromedical and control instruments manufacturing: $115,210
4. Computer systems design and related services: $111,790
5. Facilities support services: $109,120
