The American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology has awarded U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas, D-N.H., with its National Health Leadership Award for 2025.
Established in 1992, the award is bestowed to individuals working in the federal government on national health policy issues, according to a May 1 news release.
Mr. Pappas, who has represented New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District since 2019, serves on the House Veteran’s Affairs Committee.
He has championed several pieces of healthcare reform legislation, including bills that would remove barriers to CRNA practice, protect nurses from workplace violence and ensure that VA nurses are fairly compensated. He has also championed efforts to increase access to healthcare services in rural and underserved communities by co-sponsoring the Improving Care and Access to Nurses Act and the Nurse Faculty Shortage Reduction Act.
