A study at Chicago-based Rush University Medical Center that begins in July aims to determine the usability of connecting Medtronic’s GI Genius endoscopy module with Apple Vision Pro.
Cosmo Pharmaceuticals developed the medical device software application to enable physicians to visualize AI-generated insights from the GI Genius module directly through Apple Vision Pro, enabling physicians to view important information without looking away from the operative screen, according to a June 24 news release.
The study will be led by Irving Waxman, MD, James R. Lowenstine professor and chief of the division of digestive diseases and nutrition at Rush.
Dr. Waxman will evaluate the new software in real time during colonoscopy procedures. The testing is part of Cosmo’s path to FDA-approval submission, which is expected when the study concludes, according to the release.
