The 2 states with the most ASC openings so far this year

New Jersey and California have had the most new ASCs and outpatient centers open through the first six months of 2025.

There have been four new openings in New Jersey, with three in California. 

Here are the new openings that Becker’s has reported on so far in 2025:

New Jersey

  • The Institute for Advanced Reconstruction opened a new 14,500-square-foot facility in Red Bank, N.J., specializing in complex reconstructive procedures.
  • New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery opened new ASCs in Paramus and Mahwah, both in New Jersey.
  • West Orange, N.J.-based RWJBarnabas opened its Ambulatory Medical Pavilion, a 229,000-square-foot, 15-floor center.
  • Compass Surgical Partners, an ASC development and management company, opened NYC Joint & Spine Center in Englewood, N.J.

California

  • Sacramento, Calif.-based UC Davis Health cut the ribbon on its 48X Complex, a four-story, 268,000-square-foot, $589 million facility.
  • Lestonnac Free Clinic opened a new free-of-charge surgery center in Orange County, Calif., the first free surgery center in the U.S.
  • UCSF Health opened a $60 million, four-story outpatient center in Burlingame, Calif.
