Is physician pay outpacing inflation?

Physicians saw an average 3.6% rise in compensation this year, reaching $398,000, according to Medscape’s 2025 “Physician Compensation Report,” published April 11.  Since 2015, physicians have seen an average pay hike of 40.14%.  From 2015 to 2025, the inflation rate in the U.S. has risen by 1.7%, according to data from the U.S. Inflation Calculator.
