Physician pay erodes in 15 specialties 

Although physicians reported a 3.6% compensation increase, 15 physician specialties, including many ASC specialties, reported pay drops from 2023 to 2024, according to Medscape’s Physician Compensation Report 2025. Medscape surveyed 7,322 physicians who responded between Oct. 3, 2024 and Jan. 15, 2025. Here are the 15 physician specialties that reported pay declines:

Florida pharmacy will pay $1M for fraud, falsifying physician records 

A Florida-based pharmacy, OHM Pharmacy Services, agreed to plead guilty to one count of healthcare fraud, pay $82,000 in restitution and pay an additional $1 million to resolve allegations of violating the False Claims Act, according to an April 10 news release from the Justice Department.  What happened?

Indiana House bans noncompetes for some physicians

The Indiana House has approved a bill that expands the state’s 2023 ban on noncompete agreements for primary care physicians, WVXU News reported April 10.  The bill expands the initial ban to include all physicians employed by hospitals and their affiliated entities. David Stockman, MD, has filed for Chapter 11 protection on behalf of the Michigan Institute of Forensic Science & Medicine, which he owns.
