Optum is on an acquisition spree, inking three major deals in the last month. 

More organizations outside of health systems and hospitals are seeking to recruit physicians from a shrinking pool of candidates, according to AMN Healthcare’s “2023 Review of Physician and Advanced Practitioner Recruiting Incentives.”

Optum has struck a deal with Waukesha, Wis.-based ProHealth Care in which it will hire more than 800 of its employees and manage the health system’s revenue cycle management, information technology, informatics, analytics and inpatient care management.

UnitedHealth’s $1.51 billion acquisition of EMIS Group, a health technology firm, has been approved by the U.K. Competition and Markets Authority. 

Pasadena, Calif.-based Southern California Permanente Medical Group is the largest physician group in the country, according to a 2023 report from Definitive Healthcare.

Vineland, N.J.-based Inspira Health has officially integrated Salem (N.J.) Medical Center into its health system, according to an Oct. 2 report from NJBiz.

A Fredericksburg, Va.-based ASC and medical office building anchored by United Surgical Partners International affiliate Surgi-Center of Central Virginia has been sold, according to an Oct. 2 report from Commercial Property Executive. 

Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health has officially added Santa Barbara, Calif.-based Sansum Clinic to its healthcare system.
