Epic CEO Judy Faulkner was one of 42 CEOs expressing disappointment in the Republican-led Wisconsin state budget committee’s decision to cut funding for a new University of Wisconsin-Madison engineering building, The Daily Cardinal reported Nov. 6.

Epic Systems, the EHR vendor that holds 36% of the acute care hospital market share in the U.S., has gotten high marks regarding its ability to handle data and was able to achieve customer satisfaction with its payer platform.

Epic founder and CEO Judy Faulkner said she sometimes has to tell customers “no” when she feels her products aren’t quite ready.

Customers were satisfied with Epic’s Payer Platform, which aims to connect payers with Epic through provider data sharing, according to a November 2023 report from KLAS Research.

AltaMed Health Services, based in Los Angeles, recently completed migration to Epic Hyperdrive, which has improved its response time, Raymond Lowe, senior vice president and CIO of the health system, told Becker’s. 

Epic Systems ranked 87.8 out of 100 points for its ability to handle data, while Oracle Health ranked 78, according to a Nov. 7 KLAS report. 

Midwestern University, a medical school based in Downers Grove, Ill., that offers care through its clinics, selected Epic as its EHR.

Glacial Ridge Health System, based in Glenwood, Minn., is implementing a Meditech Expanse EHR system, as its current EHR system is “aging out,” Voice of Alexandria reported Nov. 6. 

Tahoe Forest Health System, based in Truckee, Calif., released a new tool that allows patients in need of urgent care services to reserve their spot at Tahoe Forest Urgent Care clinics in Truckee and Tahoe City before their visit.

Washington County (Iowa) Hospital and Clinics, a 25-bed critical access hospital, is switching to Epic.
