Here are three hospitals and health systems switching to Epic Systems in 2023, as reported by Becker’s since Aug. 2:

Staples, Minn.-based Lakewood Health System will go live with its Epic EHR system on Aug. 13,  Brainerd Dispatch reported Aug. 5. 

Epic gives its products short, fun names that make it simple to understand what they do, founder and CEO Judy Faulkner wrote Aug. 7.

Black Book Research ranked the top hospital EHRs for academic medical centers and their regional networks based on surveys of 18 performance indicators conducted between the second quarter of 2022 and the third quarter of 2023.

Epic Systems is the most-used EHR vendor by the 22 hospitals named to U.S. News & World Report’s 2023-24 Best Hospitals Honor Roll.

Administrative burdens such as EHR documentation cost U.S. healthcare $1 trillion annually, leaving hospitals and health systems trying to find ways to automate these processes for their staff. 

Marathon Health, a provider of direct primary care for employers, acquired Cerner Workforce Health Solutions, with the transaction closing Aug. 1. 

EHR giant Epic is hiring a software developer for its Madison, Wis.-based campus.

Gillette, Wyo.-based Campbell County Health is delaying the implementation of its Epic EHR system as it ends its contract with its RCM provider, Ensemble Health Partners, Gillette News Records reported Aug. 4. 

Meditech clients are pleased with the vendor’s integrated platform and intuitive workflows, though customers would like to see improvements around reporting and product optimization, according to a 2023 performance report from KLAS Research.
