Tonya Darner was appointed the permanent chief executive officer of UP Health System-Marquette (Mich.).

In a year marked by record-high CEO turnover, these hospital and health system CEOs have resigned — or shared plans to step down — since January: 

Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health, led by Wright Lassiter III, is a nonprofit, Catholic health system that operates 142 hospitals and more than 2,200 care sites in 24 states. 

Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Corewell Health has named Robert Fitzgerald, MD, president of its Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. 

Sinai Chicago has named Kenneth McGhee executive vice president of finance and CFO. 

Jacksonville, Fla.-based Baptist Health has named Ed Hubel president of Baptist Medical Center Clay, its newest hospital. 

Cambridge, Mass.-based Beth Israel Lahey Health has established new senior management positions and named a new CFO.

Adam Copher, DNP, MSN, has been named chief nursing officer of HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson, Fla. 

Jerry Klein, COO of Gillette, Wyo.-based Campbell County Health, is stepping down from his post.

The University of Virginia board of visitors on Dec. 8 voted to extend the contract of K. Craig Kent, MD, as executive vice president for health affairs and CEO for UVA Health through Jan. 31, 2030.
