Detroit-based Henry Ford Health and Ascension Michigan plan to close their proposed joint venture Sept. 30 and launch on Oct. 1.

Northwell Health, based in New Hyde Park, N.Y., is close to finalizing its merger with Danbury, Conn.-based Nuvance Health, with just two approvals remaining, Newsday reported Sept. 4.

Northwell Health and Nuvance Health have reached an agreement with Connecticut Attorney General William Tong to secure the continuation of labor and delivery services at Sharon Hospital in Connecticut.

McKesson has signed a definitive agreement for a $2.5 billion controlling stake in a subsidiary of Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, a physician-owned oncology clinic operator. 

Hospital consolidation continues to gather momentum across the country, with one state in particular, Pennsylvania, seeing more merger and acquisition activity than any other.

The University of Texas System plans to merge UT Health San Antonio and the University of Texas at San Antonio to form a unified institution in 2025.
