Dickson Medical Associates is planning to open an outpatient surgery center in Dickson, Tenn., allowing patients to get outpatient surgeries without having to travel far, the Dickson Post reported March 17.

A private equity firm invested in a joint-venture ASC chain, and four joint venture ASCs were opened or announced since the last week of February.

Across the nation, there were 174 ASCs built in 2020, according to the most recent Medicare Payment Advisory Commission report. Becker’s found and reported on 153 of them, and in 2021 Becker’s reported on 281 new ASCs.

Salem (Ohio) Regional Medical Center is seeking city council approval of financing bonds to help pay for a $45 million surgical facility it’s building in Columbiana, Ohio, Morning Journal News reported March 16. 

In a set of recommendations released March 14, the Department of Veterans Affairs called for several changes in its facilities and infrastructure, including an increase in ASCs.

Philadelphia-based Penn Medicine is planning a new outpatient center in North Wales, Pa., CEO Kevin Mahoey told the Philadelphia Business Journal.  

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital has bought an office complex in White Plains, N.Y., for $83.5 million that it plans to redevelop into a multispecialty outpatient campus, Westchester & Fairfield County Business Journals reported March 8.

OrthoIllinois’ plan to open a $19 million surgery center in Beloit, Wis., is on track for a spring 2023 opening despite another appeal to the city of Beloit from Beloit Health System, the city’s largest employer, the Beloit Daily News reported March 10…

Since the last week of February, three joint-venture ASCs have opened in Virginia, Tennessee and Arizona.
