Hartford (Conn.) Surgery Center became the first ASC in the state to earn dual Advanced Orthopedic Certification in both Total Joint Replacement and Complex Spine Surgery.
The certification from Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care recognizes ASCs with excellence across the full spectrum of orthopedic care from clinical quality to surgical outcomes and care coordination, according to a July 7 news release.
“We are doing what few others in the region, or the nation, are doing in an ambulatory setting,” spine surgeon Steve Zhou, MD, said in the release. “Spinal fusions, including robotics along with other high-acuity cases are safely and successfully performed here thanks to a team-based approach and the use of the latest innovations in outpatient surgery.”
Hartford Surgery Center, part of Harford HealthCare, was founded in 2017 as a joint venture with Hartford HealthCare, Orthopedic Associates of Hartford, and Constitution Surgery Alliance in Avon, Conn.
