Former Glassdoor execs launch salary platform for physicians

A team of former executives at Glassdoor, an employment and recruiting website, have partnered with physicians to create Marit Health, a salary transparency platform for physicians and advanced practice providers, Newsweek reported March 27.

Ahead of the March 27 launch, more than 12,000 clinicians registered for Marit Health and contributed over 7,000 verified salaries, according to the report. The platform is free to those who submit information and is supported by an initial $3.2 million seed-funding round.

The platform came to existence after Rob Anderson, MD, an anesthesiologist and brother of Glassdoor’s first chief product officer, Tim Anderson, urged his brother to build a “Glassdoor for medicine.”

The idea was revived in 2023 and the team was joined by Vikas Sabnani, Glassdoor’s former vice president of product.

“The long-term vision is to build the community and platform for clinicians to find and do the best work of their lives,” Mr. Sabnani, now CEO of Marit Health, told Newsweek. “We want to give them the tools so that they can thrive in their careers.”

Clinicians can share data on all employer types, including private practice, digital health companies and major health systems. The only requirement is that they must be actively practicing to contribute. Marit Health verifies each clinician’s national provider identifier before publishing their information. Clinician information is also stored in a separate server, so individuals cannot be linked to their data.

Marit also does not ask for employee or employer names. Rather, it collects information about the type of organization and its location. An algorithm automatically rolls up each person’s location to a broader level, depending on the popularity of their specialty. Clinicians can also opt for their location to be more broad, such as an entire state rather than a specific city.
