Hospitals and healthcare professionals must lead on firearm injury prevention to keep children and communities safe

Firearm-related injuries have been the leading cause of death for children and teens in the United States since 2022, killing more children than car crashes, cancer or infectious illnesses. Yet, we don’t approach firearm injury prevention with the same urgency as other lifesaving measures routinely discussed in pediatric care.
