Butte, Mont.-based Providence Heart Institute is permanently shuttering, giving patients just 30 days’ notice, according to a June 18 report from CBS affiliate KXLF.
The institute will close for good in July, leaving the 3,000 patients it serves without a provider.
The institute, located inside Butte Hospital, has 10 providers on staff. It is unclear where they will go to treat patients next.
“Providence decided to close our clinic down and gave us 30 days’ notice, so we have somewhere between 2,500 and 3,000 patients that are now lacking cardiology care,” Bill Hall, MD, an interventional cardiologist at the practice, told KXLF.
Providence, based in Renton, Wash., wrote a letter to patients informing them that it is working with Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health to facilitate access to cardiac services in the area. Dr. Hall is one of only three interventional cardiologists in Montana, according to the report.
The letter did not specify why the clinic is closing.
