North Carolina medical center adds gastroenterology

Hickory, N.C.-based Frye Regional Medical Center, a Duke Lifepoint facility, has added gastroenterology services. 

Simon Allport, MD, a gastroenterologist who specializes in treating digestive conditions, including pancreatic, liver and esophageal disorders, will be the first provider at the new facility, according to a June 3 news release shared with WHKY. 

Dr. Allport also performs colonoscopies and esophagogastroduodenoscopies, and is now seeing patients at the medical center, which also offers cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, family and internal medicine, infectious disease treatment, neurology, neurosurgery, OB-GYN, orthopedics, pulmonology and vascular surgery services.
