Northtown ASC 1st US center to acquire Distalmotion robotic system

Williamsville, N.Y.-based Northtown Ambulatory Surgery Center, a joint venture between Buffalo, N.Y.-based surgeons and Buffalo-based Kaleida Health Ventures, has become the first ASC in the U.S. to add Distalmotion’s Dexter robotic surgery system.

The device will help the ASC to improve its workflows and deliver minimally invasive care with less cost and improved precision, according to a March 27 news release.

Dexter is a soft tissue surgical robot that is compatible with current surgical technology and adaptable to future advancements, the release said.

In the U.S., Dexter is cleared for use in laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair, with further indications in Europe.
