NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn in New York City has appointed its first chief of cardiac surgery.
According to an April 9 news release, Noritsugu Naito, MD, will serve as the hospital’s inaugural chief of cardiac surgery and has been appointed clinical associate professor in the department of cardiothoracic surgery at the NYU Grossman School of MEdicine.
Dr. Naito’s appointment marks major growth for the hospital’s recently expanded cardiac service line, which will offer residents in Brooklyn more comprehensive cardiac care.
Dr. Naito earned his medical degree from the University of Tokyo and completed an advanced cardiac surgery fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and a fellowship in structural heart and valve disease surgery at NYU Langine. He was a member of the department of cardiothoracic surgery at NYU Langone from 2019 to 2023 before returning to Japan for one year, where he served as the director of cardiovascular surgery at Shizuoka Medical Center in Shimizu.
