Fairfield Medical Center has closed the practice of David Cummin, MD, a physician in Logan, Ohio, leaving more than 7,500 patients in limbo, the Logan-Hocking Times reported June 5.
Dr. Cummin is seeking another healthcare organization to take over his practice, according to the publication.
A change.org petition to prevent the closure has received more than 1,000 signatures and emphasized the scale of the disruption.
“The potential closure not only disrupts the continuity of care for 7,500 individuals but also jeopardizes jobs and destabilizes an already strained local healthcare system,” the petition said. “The repercussions could prove costly not just for the patients, but for the entire community of Logan.”
Becker’s has reached out to Fairfield Medical Center and will update this story if more information becomes available.
