Penn State Health’s 8 new partnerships, leadership shake-ups

State College, Pa.-based Penn State Health has launched a number of new partnerships since the start of 2025, from orthopedic to gastroenterology collaborations.

In addition, the system has seen a wave of new leadership changes following a number of retirements at the end of 2024.

In October, the system’s diversity chief, Lynette Chappell Williams, said she will step down, with her role being assumed by Wesley McClendon.

In December, the system’s CFO Paula Tinch stepped down. In addition, Penn State’s CEO recently retired, with Deborah Addo serving in an interim capacity since September.

In January, Penn State Health also added Teresa Swenson as administrative vice president of musculoskeletal services.

Here are the system’s new partnerships this year:

1. Penn State Health and Lancaster (Pa.) Orthopedic Group inked an affiliation agreement that took effect Jan. 31. Lancaster Orthopedic Group has 18 physicians and was founded in 1985.

2. Penn State Health and York, Pa.-based OSS Health entered into a collaboration to expand access to orthopedic care. Through the partnership, Penn State Health physicians will provide orthopedic services at the OSS Health West Shore clinic in Enola, Pa.

3. Penn State Health added Lancaster, Pa.-based Prime Anesthesia Associates. Prime’s three physicians and two certified registered nurse anesthetists joined Penn State on March 24.

4. Harrisburg (Pa.) Gastroenterology will begin providing outpatient and inpatient GI care for two Penn State Health facilities beginning June 2. Harrisburg Gastroenterology has been serving patients in the area for over 40 years, and will now provide clinical and surgical care at Penn State Health’s Hampden and Holy Spirit medical centers.
