Physician pay in 2025’s best states for healthcare

The average annual salary for physicians is $304,950 in Hawaii, the best-ranked state for healthcare in 2025.

U.S. News & World Report ranked all 50 states across 71 metrics in eight categories. The rankings were published May 6.

Compensation data for physicians is from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. 

Here is the average annual wage for physicians in the 10 best states for healthcare in 2025:
