Physicians have a brighter outlook on their field than in previous years, according to Athenahealth’s fourth annual Physician Sentiment Survey.
The survey, conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of Athenahealth, polled 1,001 primary care and specialist physicians nationwide.
Here are five takeaways from the survey:
1. Two-thirds of respondents indicated that they look forward to coming to work each day.
2. The number of physicians who are considering leaving medicine on a weekly basis has declined 22% since last year.
3. Twenty-seven percent of respondents believed that AI is “overhyped” or “unable to meet expectations,” down from 40% last year.
4. Only 31% of physicians expressed concern that AI is “one more thing that would complicate healthcare,” a decrease from 42% last year.
5. While the survey overall found improved attitudes towards the future of health care among surveyed physicians, 56% are very or somewhat concerned about their organization’s financial health, and 49% are considering major changes to their practice to offset financial burdens.
