The burdensome costs of 5 cardiovascular diseases

Currently, cardiovascular disease costs the U.S. healthcare system $318 billion, but that cost is expected to rise to $749 billion by 2035, according to a 2025 report from the American Heart and American Stroke Association.

In addition, indirect costs of cardiovascular disease, including lost productivity, are expected to total $368 billion by 2035.

Current: $89 billion

Current: $18 billion

2035: $45 billion

Stroke 

Current: $37 billion

2035: $94 billion

Atrial fibrillation

Current: $24 billion
