Forbes has released its annual report of the 50 wealthiest self-made women in the world, featuring five who made their billions in the healthcare industry.
Together, all 50 women on the list are worth $276 billion, or $5.5 billion on average. There are 18 American women on the list, including big names like Oprah Winfrey, Sheryl Sandberg and Judy Faulkner.
To compile net worths, Forbes valued individual assets including stakes in public companies using stock prices from June 13, 2025.
Here are the wealthiest self-made women in healthcare, their net worths and their overall rank on Forbes’ list:
3. Zhong Huijuan, $15.6 billion, is a Chinese woman who made her wealth in pharmaceuticals. Ms. Huijuan is the chairman and CEO of Chinese drugmaker Hansoh Pharmaceutical Group, which produces oncology, psychoactive, antidiabetic and other drugs.
6. Judy Faulkner, $7.8 billion, is an American woman who made her wealth in healthcare software. Ms. Faulkner, a computer programmer by trade, founded medical-record software provider Epic Systems in a Wisconsin basement in 1979. She is now CEO of the company and owns 43%.
32. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, $3.3 billion, is an Indian woman who made her wealth in biopharmaceuticals. Ms. Mazumdar-Shaw founded biopharmaceutical firm Biocon in 1978. The company operates one of Asia’s largest insulin factories.
34. Jian Jun, $3.1 billion, is a Chinese woman who made her wealth in biomedical products. Ms. Jun is the chairwoman of biomedical supplier Imeik Technology Development, which makes products like skin fillers and facial implant threads.
38. Zhao Yan, $3 billion, is a Chinese woman who made her wealth in biotech. Ms. Yan is the chairman and CEO of Shanghai-listed Bloomage Biotechnology, a biotech company best known for making hyaluronic acid.
